1914 To 1917 Alfred’s family move to 82 Darlington Street Scholes Wigan a couple of doors from the Grocer Business. Alfred is up to 3.

21sth November 1916 Hilda born at 8a Hardybutts Scholes Wigan to Thomas and Elizabeth Taylor, Thomas is a Fish Dealer.

1st June 1935 Alfred’s father Thomas dies aged 54 at 82 Darlington Street Scholes Wigan of Cardiac Failure. Alfred is aged 20.

29th September 1939 Register. Alfred living at 82 Darlington Street Scholes Wigan with his mother Margaret. Alfred is aged 25 a Grocers Dealer Manager (presumably at the family business).

27th October 1940 Alfred and Hilda married at New Jerusalem Church Scholes Wigan. Alfred is aged 25 a Grocers Manager living at 82 Darlington Street Scholes Wigan and Hilda is aged 23 a Motor Omnibus Conductress living at 90 Darlington Street East Scholes Wigan. Witness and probable best man is a Thomas Nixon likely to be Alfred’s brother.

20th November 1940 Alfred’s sister Margaret marries Vincent Arthur Hagerty at Wigan Register Office. 

1940 To 1961 No children of Alfred and Hilda can be found.

31st March 1945 Alfred’s sister Florence marries Harold Smith at New Jerusalem Church Scholes Wigan. Alfred’s brother Thomas is probable best man.

13th September 1948 Alfred’s brother Sydney marries Irene Collins at St Stephen Whelley Wigan. Alfred is probable best man.

1961 Son born, according to the son’s marriage certificate, which identifies son’s father as Alfred Edwin Elias Nixon. Hilda would have been around 45 at the time which is old for the time. No birth certificate can be found for the son. Maybe he was adopted but Alfred and Hilda are quite old for adopting too. Maybe he was born abroad.

13 October 1963 Alfred’s brother Thomas dies aged 51 at Wrightington Hospital.

18th May 1977 Alfred’s mother Margaret dies aged 96 at 64 St Marys Road Poole Dorset of Hypertension. Informant was Alfred’s sister Florence who lived at the same address.

29th April 1987 Alfred dies aged 72 at 23 Otley Road St Annes of Left Ventricular Hypertrophy he was a retired Draper. Informant was the son.

9th February 1997 Alfred’s sister Margaret dies aged 79.

25th February 1992 Hilda dies aged 75 at 30 North Promenade St Annes of Peripheral Vascular Disease, residence is 29 Otley Road St Annes she was a retired Shopkeeper. Informant was the son.
