Overview

18th January 1918 Raymond born at 90 Ladies Lane Hindley to Herman and Josephine Nixon, Herman is a Clothiers Clerk.

30th August 1925 Norah born at 8 Monument Road Swinley Wigan to Arthur and Winifred Lea, Arthur is an Engineer’s Draughtsman.

1924 To 1936 Raymond’s family moves to Swinley Wigan.

3rd January 1936 Raymond’s father Herman dies aged 48 at 17 Kingsway Swinley Wigan, he was a Commercial Clerk. Raymond is aged 17.

1936 To 1939 Raymond’s family moves to Whitley Wigan.

17th March 1949 Raymond’s mother Josephine dies aged 57 at Billinge Hospital she was living at 7 Eskdale Avenue Whitley Wigan. Raymond is the Informant living at the same address.

22nd June 1949 Raymond’s sister Marjory marries John Westhead Polding at St John Wigan.

10th September 1949 Raymond and Nora married at New Jerusalem Church Scholes Wigan. Raymond is aged 31 a Credit Drapers Traveller from 7 Eskdale Avenue Whitley Wigan and Norah is aged 23 an Assistant Teacher Primary living at 8 Monument Road Swinley Wigan. 1952 First son born at Billinge Hospital, Raymond is a Credit Drapery Traveller living at 7 Eskdale Avenue Whitley Wigan so Raymond and Nora had moved into Raymond’s mother’s old house. A Credit Draper allowed customers to get good on credit which was paid off in small amounts.

1955 Second son born at 7 Eskdale Avenue Whitley Wigan. Raymond is a Credit Drapery Traveller.

23rd November 1985 Raymond dies aged 67 at 7 Eskdale Avenue Whitley Wigan of Bronchial Carcinoma, he was a Retired Manager Credit Drapers. Informant was Norah who was present at the death. 1985 Raymond buried at Lower Ince Cemetery in same grave as his parents Herman and Josephine Nixon.

4th August 2012 Norah dies aged 86 at Lakeside Chorley Road Worthington Wigan of Bronchopneumonia, she was a Retired Primary School Teacher living at that address. Informant was wife of second son.

2012 Norah buried at Lower Ince Cemetery in same grave as Raymond and his parents Herman and Josephine Nixon.
