1911 In census James is aged 20 a Motor Engineer Apprentice.
1914 to 1918 No first world war service record can be found for James.
10th January 1919 James’s father John dies on train from Wigan to Southport.
15th or 22nd January 1919 James’s father John buried at Duke Street Cemetery Southport. Wigan Examiner’s report of the funeral does not mention James.
25th June 1919 James and Elsie married at Holy Trinity Southport. James is aged 28 an Engineer living at 34 Manchester Road Southport (not his parents’s house) and Elsie is aged 27 living at 62 Sefton Street Southport.
30th June 1920 James’s brother Thomas marries Florence Edith Blackburn at St James Birkdale Southport.
17th July 1920 James’s brother John marries Mary Emma Stewart at St Philip Southport.
19th June 1921 Census. James and Elsie living at 13 Hartwood Road Southport. James is aged 30 an Engineer Iron Turner at Vulcan Motor Company at Crossens Southport (which the same company that James’s father John was a Director of) and Elsie is aged 29.
10th October 1931 James’s mother Mary dies aged 80 at 18 Ash Street Southport.
29th September 1939 Register. James and Elise living at 28 Rectory Road Southport. James is aged 48 a Machine Tool Turner (according to Wikipedia Vulcan had been taken over by then and production moved to Kent so presumably James was working somewhere else) and Elsie is aged 48. Living with them was a Mary E Kellett aged 60, who is Incapacitated, possibly Elsie’s sister? Also living there was a Henry R Oke, aged 68, a School Master but there is no indication if he was a relation or a lodger.
2nd June 1944 James’s brother Henry dies aged 63 in Southport.
7th February 1955 James’s brother Thomas dies aged 72.
12th May 1959 James’s brother John dies aged 70 in Southport.
30th May 1960 James’s brother Evan dies aged 67 in Southport.
3rd August 1961 James’s sister Sarah dies aged 74 in Southport.
5th September 1964 James dies aged 73 at Southport Infirmary of Coronary Thrombosis, he was a Retired Light Engineering Fitter living at 28 Rectory Road Southport. Informant was his nephew Frank Mawdsley from 68 Rawlinson Road Southport. On completion of probate the estate was left to Elsie.
4th April 1972 Elsie dies aged 80 at 14 Park Avenue Southport of Cerebral Thrombosis. Informant was her nephew Frank Mawdsley from 68 Rawlinson Road Southport.
