11th November 1892 Henry born at Fleece Hotel Central Wigan to Evan and Ellen Mawdsley, where father Evan is the Publican.

26th December 1900 Henry’s step-sister Tryphena goes missing and she is found drowned on 15th January 1901. Henry is aged 8.

9th November 1901 Henry’s sister Christina dies aged 3 at Fleece Hotel Central Wigan, Henry is aged 8.

8th February 1902 Roma born at 258 High Road Chiswick London to Ernest and Edith Swan, father Ernest is a Wine Shop Manager.

17th May 1905 Henry’s mother Ellen dies aged 38 at Fleece Hotel Central Wigan. Henry is aged 12.

27th February 1911 Henry’s father Evan dies aged 65. Henry is aged 18 working as a Railway Clerk in Coppull. This is a photo of a young Henry (from the collection of Karen Humphreys).

1914 to 1918 No first world war service record can be found for Henry.

1911 to 1921 Henry moves to London and becomes a Shipping Clerk.

19th June 1921 Census. Henry is aged 28 a Shipping Clerk for Mr Gregor Gow & Holland at 4 Fenchurch Avenue City Of London (near the Lloyd’s building) boarding at 21 Studley Road Lambeth London. Roma is aged 20 a Gloves Assistant at Messrs J W Holdson of 104/132 Borough High Street Balham London, boarding at 110/126 Balham High Road Balham London. 10th June 1922 Henry and Roma married at St Margaret Westminster. Henry is aged 29 a Clerk living at 21 Studley Road Clapham and Roma is aged 20 living at 38 Parliament Street Westminster (which is an extension of Whitehall). 31st December 1926 Son Derek born at 2 Lysias Road Balham London. Henry is a Shipping Clerk.

8th May 1927 Henry’s sister Clarissa dies aged 31 in Lancaster Asylum.

2nd February 1935 Henry’s sister Ellen dies aged 43 in Preston. Henry is the informant so presumably had to travel to Preston to do that.

29th September 1939 Register. Family living at 23 Hill Crescent Harrow London. Henry is aged 48 a Freight Manager, Roma is aged 37 and Derek is aged 12.

27th November 1948 Son Derek marries Maud Ellen Farr at Parish Church Harrow, Derek is aged 22 a Telephone Engineer at the GPO living at 23 Hill Crescent Harrow and Maud is aged 28 a Telephone Operator. One of witnesses is an H Mawdsley, possibly Henry.

5th January 1968 Henry dies aged 75 at Harrow Hospital of Chronic Bronchitis, a Retired Shipping Clerk of 23 Hill Crescent Harrow. Roma was the informant. Here is a photo of Henry from later life (from the collection of Karen Humphreys).

28th January 1993 Roma dies aged 90 at 23 Hill Crescent Harrow (where she had live for at least 53 years) of Pulmonary Fibrosis. Informant was son Derek.
