1st January 1847 Elizabeth born in Blackrod to Thomas and Sarah Seddon, Thomas is a Miner.
21st August 1850 James’s mother Alice dies aged 45 of Child Birth Exhaustion at Blackrod. James is aged 3, his sister Esther takes over the housekeeping role.
17th August 1873 James’s father James dies in Blackrod aged 63. In 1871 census James was a Railway Stoker living with his father in Blackrod.
28th September 1876 James and Elizabeth married at Wigan Parish Church. James is aged 30 an Engine Driver living at 3 Powells Yard (possibly the one off Hallgate) Central Wigan and Elizabeth is aged 29 a Dress Maker living at 3 Hallgate Central Wigan. One of witnesses is an Ellen Crankshaw who is unknown. Elizabeth is heavily pregnant.
9th October 1876 Daughter Sarah born at New Street Blackrod.
9th October 1876 Daughter Sarah baptised at St Katherine Blackrod. Baptism record says date of birth was 8th October. The baby must have been seriously ill from birth for it to be baptised so quickly.
30th October 1876 Daughter Sarah dies aged 21 days at New Street Blackrod of Tuberculosis In Intestinal Lymph Nodes (Since Birth). Elizabeth’s father Thomas was informant and was present at the death (New Street Blackrod was possibly his home).
2nd November 1876 Daughter Sarah buried at St Katherine Blackrod.
25th February 1879 Elizabeth dies aged 32 at New Street Blackrod of Heart Disease (Uncertain), Childbirth (6 Days) and Congestion Of Lungs (2.5 Days). James is a Fire Beater at a Colliery. James was informant and was present at the death. No child can be found so must have died without being recorded.
1st March 1879 Elizabeth buried at St Katherine Blackrod.
3rd April 1881 Census. James living with sister Esther (who had brought him up) at Chapel Street Blackrod. James is aged 34 a Railway Engine Driver, Esther is aged 49 a Dressmaker.
10th July 1885 James dies aged 38 at The Dispensary Hospital Bury due to being Runover By A Tram Car Engine the same day. He was an Engine Driver.
18th July 1885 James buried at St Katherine Blackrod.
