St George is a church in Central Wigan, founded in 1781, used by the ancestors living in Harrogate Street mostly for marriages.
St George was originally a Chapel Of Ease for Wigan Parish Church and became a Parish Church in its own right in the 1870s.
For more information see FamilySearch, Wigan Buildings, Lancashire Online Parish Clerks and GENUKI.
Descendants of Thomas and Susannah Barton and Richard and Mary Lamb are amongst those using the church for ceremonies. The author of this web site was also confirmed there in the 1970s.
The building is no longer a church it is used as a food bank.
