
Garswood is a village to the north east of St Helens and west of Ashton In Makerfield. In certificates places in Garswood are often stated to be in Ashton In Makerfield but there is a definite separation on modern maps.
The area to the west of Garswood is known as Seneley Green and the northern part of Garswood is known as Downall Green.
In the Downall Green neighbourhood is Holy Trinity Garswood where many relatives were baptised, married or buried.

Garswood was the home of Marian Heaton and many of her ancestors. Marian’s mother Margaret worked at the Railway Hotel Garswood.
