Places: Folds Farm Haresfinch

Folds Farm was located on Folds Lane Haresfinch St Helens. The above 1890 map clearly shows Folds Farm on Folds Lane, to the north west of Hard Lane City Windle St Helens and the north of Haresfinch House.

Folds Farm was demolished and its location is now occupied by a housing estate.

See Archaeology Data Service for more information.

Folds Farm was occupied by the Littler and Brown familes (as was the next door Pyes Farm)

  • John Littler from at least 1891 until around 1908, after which he moved to Pyes Farm Haresfinch St Helens and then back to Folds Farm between 1911 and 1918 when he died.
  • John and Mary Brown from between 1906 and 1911 to between 1912 and 1917. John was a Corporation Carter at this time but there were relatives employed as “On Farm Cow Boy” so it could have still been a working farm, unless they were working at another farm nearby.

This is a painting by E.D. Williams of “Folds Lane Farm St Helens” from mid 20th century, which could be Folds Farm or Pyes Farm Haresfinch St Helens
