1831 Margaret is born. No parish baptism record can be found so the birth year is estimated from age given in subsequent certificates and census records. At time of her marriage her father William Rimmer was a Carpenter from Whiston.
10th February 1838 Edward is born at Little Moor Flat St Helens to Thomas and Elizabeth Rigby, Thomas is a Shoe Maker.
10th August 1856 Edward and Margaret marry at St Mary Prescot. Edward is a Joiner aged 18 (although certificate says “Full” which means 21 or over) from Whiston and Margaret is aged 25 from Whiston. Maybe the marriage was rushed because Margaret was 2 months pregnant.
24th March 1857 Son John is born 7 months after marriage at Green Lane Eccleston St Helens. Edward is a Joiner.
21st June 1857 Son John is baptised at St Thomas Eccleston.
1857 To 1860 Family move to City Windle St Helens.
9th February 1860 Daughter Elizabeth is born at City Windle St Helens. Edward is a Journeyman Joiner.
1st April 1860 Daughter Elizabeth is baptised at St Thomas Eccleston.

Edward is a Joiner aged 33, Margaret is aged 38, son John is aged 14, daughter Elizabeth is aged 11, son Thomas is aged 8, son Edward is aged 5, daughter Agnes is aged 3 and son Charles is aged 1.
11th November 1873 Daughter Mary is born at City Windle St Helens. Edward is a Joiner.
15th February 1874 Daughter Mary is baptised at St Thomas Eccleston.
3rd September 1874 Daughter Mary dies aged 10 months of Pneumonia at City Windle St Helens. Margaret is present at the death.
1874 To 1881 Family move to York Street St Helens which does not exist in the modern town.
9th May 1880 Daughter Elizabeth marries Thomas Brown at St Thomas Eccleston St Helens.
3rd April 1881 Census. Family living at 66 York Street St Helens. Edward is a Joiner aged 43, Margaret is aged 50, son Thomas is a Labourer aged 18, son Edward is a Glass Maker aged 15 and son Charles is aged 11. Son John cannot be found in the census. Daughter Agnes is aged 14 living at 1 Albert Street Windle St Helens as a General Servant for James Pye a Cowkeeper.
1881 To 1891 Family move to City Road Windle St Helens.
30th July 1882 Son Thomas marries Bridget Caroline Grogan at St Thomas Eccleston. Son Thomas is a Blacksmith’s Striker (someone who uses heavy hammer to hit metal) aged 20 living at Wilson Street St Helens (which does not exist in the modern town) and Bridget is aged 18 living in the same street. Edward is a Joiner.
23rd January 1886 Daughter Agnes marries John Thomas Hill at St Mary Prescot. Agnes is aged 19 and John is a Labourer aged 26. Edward is a Joiner. Agnes is listed as living in Prescot but this may be a falsification due to her being a minor. Agnes and John have 8 children and John is a Glass Worker in St Helens. John dies in 1903 aged 43 at County Lunatic Asylum St Helens. Agnes then lives with a James Jones and has 2 more children with him but they do not marry until 6th February 1926 at Wesley Chapel Corporation Street St Helens. James is also a Glass Worker in St Helens. James dies before the 1939 Register. Agnes dies on 27th February 1951 of Myocardial Degeneration aged 83 in Parr St Helens.
5th April 1891 Census. Family living at 181 City Road Windle St Helens. Edward is a Joiner aged 53, Margaret is aged 61, son Edward is a Glass Labourer aged 26 and son Charles is a Glass Labourer aged 21.
8th August 1892 Edward dies aged 54 of Bronchitis (duration 2 days) and Congestion Of Lungs (duration 2 days) at “Back” 181 City Road Windle St Helens (maybe the house was a “back to back”). He was a Journeyman Joiner. Son John was present at the death.
1893 Son Charles marries Mary Woods.
11th August 1894 Son Edward marries Ann Rigby (from a different Rigby family) at St Mark Windle St Helens. Son Edward is a Glass Maker aged 29 living at 181 “Windle City” Windle St Helens and Ann is aged 27 living at 36 “Windle City” Windle St Helens. Witness and probable best man is Edward’s brother Charles.
13th August 1896 Daughter Elizabeth’s husband Thomas Brown dies aged 37.
22nd December 1897 Son Edward’s wife Ann dies aged 30.
31st March 1901 Census. Margaret aged 72 is living at 281 City Road Windle St Helens with widowed daughter Elizabeth and her children. Son Edward a widowed Glass Blower aged 35 and his son John aged 6 are also living there.
15th June 1902 Margaret dies aged 71 of Cerebral Haemorrhage and Asthenia (general weakness) at 281 City Road Windle St Helens. Son John was present at the death, his residence is 39 Grafton Street St Helens which in the 1901 census is the home of brother Thomas, but John is not listed and no further details of John can be found.
